Moon salutation: find your flow

Writer: Fiona HattonFiona Hatton

This is a variation of one of my absolute favourite yoga sequences: the moon salutation. As well as giving me a good stretch, it has the fabulous goddess pose which can make me feel really powerful.

Moon salutation sequence

The great thing about working through the poses from this image is that you can decide whether to speed things up or take it a little slower, depending on how you feel that day.

Start at the top of the image (12 o'clock) and work clockwise round the circle. Think about how you tie in your breath to the movement to set the pace. For a more energetic practice, take a breath for each pose. For a cosy flow, consider holding each pose for 3 to 5 breaths.

And remember, you can also add extra poses along the way to make it your own.

However you choose to move, I hope this sequence helps you feel grounded, strong and connected. Enjoy!

If you're looking for ways to adapt your yoga practice or build confidence in movement, I’d love to help. As a certified coach and yoga teacher based in Sevenoaks, I work with individuals and groups to create a strong foundation for change—whether through movement, mindset, or both.
